Unitree Unveils New Kung Fu Robot That Can Lift a Car

•1 min read

In a newly released demonstration video, a white-and-black humanoid runs at a car in a scrapyard and punches the door, leaving a deep dent in the metal. The footage then shows the machine rolling over a vehicle, jumping from a four-meter platform, and landing in a forward roll. In a later scene, it grabs the front of a car and lifts until the nose comes off the ground.

The machine performing these stunts is the H2-X Kung Fu Legend Guardian, a new model unveiled on October 21 by Hangzhou-based Unitree Robotics.

One major breakthrough for the H2-X is its endurance. Most early humanoid robots could only operate for about one to three hours before needing to plug into a wall. However, Unitree announced that this new Kung Fu robot can run for up to eight hours on a single charge. This massive jump in battery life makes it much more practical for real-world tasks rather than just short laboratory tests.

Kicks and backflips are not new for Unitree. Its H1 landed a standing backflip in 2024. The smaller G1, and later the H2, already did kung fu on camera. The H2-X film is selling a job. Unitree is pitching the robot as a security machine, one that could one day act as a "personal bodyguard." Lifting a car is the scene that makes that pitch concrete.

Seeing a robot master these moves shows that these machines are no longer just rigid factory tools. They are becoming highly athletic and lifelike. While we might not see robotic bodyguards walking down our local streets tomorrow, the H2-X may prove that the gap between science fiction movies and our daily reality is closing faster than anyone expected.
