Working in wind power carries significant responsibilities and high risks. We must be on duty 24 hours a day and rush to the front lines even during extreme weather conditions. Living in a long-term isolated environment with irregular schedules can inevitably lead to feelings of loneliness, fatigue, and even low spirits. However, I've always believed that we shape our own destiny. These following simple daily practices are my source of strength in combating depression and relieving stress.
First of all, concentrating on my studies has been of great help to me. The time spent alone at the wind farm has become a golden period for self-improvement. I dedicate my spare time to learning English, studying foreign manuals and technical documents for imported wind turbines, and enhancing my equipment maintenance skills. I continuously study wind power theory, operational techniques, and safety regulations to improve my troubleshooting and emergency response capabilities. The more solid my knowledge becomes, the more composed I remain at work. Therefore, the security that knowledge provides dispels confusion and depression.
Secondly, the elegance of calligraphy offers the perfect balm for a mind that works with machinery day in and day out. During my free time, I practice calligraphy. With each stroke, I focus my mind and channel the tension from high-altitude work and the pressure of emergency repairs into the brush and ink. In those moments of complete concentration, my heart finds peace, and negative emotions gradually fade away.
Moreover, sports also provide the most direct way to release pressure and build physical endurance for our demanding wind power work. After work, I play billiards and basketball with colleagues, running and sweating together. When conditions permit, I go swimming to fully stretch and relax my body. After a good workout, all depression and fatigue wash away, leaving me better prepared to handle inspections, shift changes, and emergency tasks.
Finally, I also find healing in the beauty of the wind farm landscape. Watching rows of turbines spin in the wind, powering thousands of homes, witnessing sunrises, sunsets, and the vast starry sky, I deeply feel the profound responsibility and pride of being a wind power technician. The world is vast, and my heart grows with it. Those minor emotional concerns naturally seem insignificant.
Learning enriches me, calligraphy calms me, sports strengthen me, and perseverance makes me more open-minded. These simple practices accompany me in maintaining my mental well-being and managing stress. In this remote wind farm, I not only guard each turbine to ensure safe power generation but also take good care of my own heart.
